Weighing Samples
1. Place the sample weighing support on the balance. Tare the balance and al-
low it to stabilize at zero (0).
2. Place the sample tube set on the sample weighing support. Record the stabi-
lized weight as empty sample tube weight. Remove the sample weighing
support and sample tube set from the balance.

3. Place a sample weighing container onto the balance. Tare the balance and al-
low it to stabilize at zero (0).
Do not touch the sample with bare hands while performing the next six
steps. Doing so could affect the accuracy of results.
4. Slowly add the sample to the weighing container.
5. Weigh the stabilized sample and record the weight as sample weight before
degas.
6. Remove the rubber stopper from the sample tube.
7. Pour sample from the weighing container into the sample tube using a funnel.
