If radio transmitting equipment (e.g. cordless
headphones, two-way radios) is operated inside
the vehicle or in the vicinity of the vehicle, this
can interfere with the operation of the tyre pres-
sure monitor.
Reprogramming tyre pressure refer-
ence values
If you reprogram the tyre pressure reference
values, all existing warning messages are
deleted and the warning lamps go out. The mon-
itor uses the currently set tyre pressures as the
reference values for monitoring.
If you enter an incorrect tyre pressure, particu-
larly one which is too low, the system will inform
you about the insufficient pressure after a few
minutes of driving.
The reference value needs to be entered again:
R
if the tyre pressure has been changed
R
after the wheels have been interchanged
R
after a wheel has been changed
R
if a pressure sensor has been replaced
X
Make sure that the tyre pressure of all four
wheels is set correctly for the current oper-
ating conditions. Observe the notes in "Infor-
Adjust the tyre pressure when the tyres are cold.
If you cannot adjust the tyre pressure when the
tyres are cold, increase the tyre pressure to be
set by 0.2 bar to 0.3 bar.

Due to the nature of the system, if you
reprogram the tyre pressure reference val-
ues, all the trip computer values are reset.
You can find information on what to do in the
event of a flat tyre in the "Breakdown assis-
Interchanging the front and rear wheels may
severely impair the driving characteristics if
the wheels or tyres have different dimensions.
The wheel brakes or suspension components
may also be damaged. There is a risk of acci-
dent.
Interchange front and rear wheels only if the
wheels and tyres are of the same dimensions.
Interchanging front and rear wheels of differing
dimensions can render the general operating
permit invalid.
Always observe the instructions and safety
notes in the "Fitting a wheel" section
The wear patterns on the front and rear tyres
differ, depending on the operating conditions.
Interchange the wheels before a clear wear pat-
tern has formed on the tyres. The front tyres
typically wear more on the outer shoulder, and
the rear tyres in the centre of the tread.
On vehicles that have the same wheel dimen-
sions at the front and rear, you can interchange
the wheels every 5,000 to 10,000 km, depend-
ing on the degree of tyre wear. Maintain the
direction of tyre rotation.
Clean the contact surfaces of the wheel and the
brake disc thoroughly every time a wheel is
interchanged. Check the tyre pressures.
