BAS PLUS is temporarily inoperative. Possible causes:

the radar sensor system cover in the radiator grille is dirty.

function is impaired due to heavy rain or snow.

the sensors in the bumpers are dirty.

the radar sensor system is temporarily inoperative, e.g. due to

electromagnetic radiation emitted by nearby TV or radio sta-

tions or other sources of electromagnetic radiation.

the system is outside the operating temperature range.

the on-board voltage is too low.

If the display message does not disappear:

Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible, paying

attention to road and traffic conditions.

Engage the electric parking brake.

Clean the radar sensor system cover in the radiator grille

(

page 270).

Clean the bumpers (

page 270).

Restart the engine.

If the system detects that the sensors are fully operational, the

display message disappears.
BAS PLUS is operational again.

BAS PLUS is faulty. The distance warning signal may also have

failed.

Visit a qualified specialist workshop.

If the symbol appears in the multifunction display, a seat belt

tongue has been inserted into a rear seat belt buckle.
For further information on the status indicator for the rear seat

belts, (

page 46).

If the symbol appears in the multifunction display, a seat belt

tongue has not been inserted in a rear seat belt buckle.

WARNING

If you do not wear the seat belt correctly, or it is not properly

engaged in the buckle, it no longer offers the intended level of

protection in the event of an accident.
There is an increased risk of injury.

If necessary, ask the occupants in the rear to fasten their seat

belts.
