1 Overview
This document is a User Manual for Mellanox Technologies Ethernet cards based on the Con-
nectX®-3 EN integrated circuit device. The cards described in this manual have the following
main features:
• IEEE Std. 802.3 compliant
• PCI Express 3.0 (1.1 and 2.0 compatible) through an x4 or x8 edge connector up to 8GT/s
• 10 Gb/s Ethernet
• Dual SFP+ ports for connection Ethernet traffic
• RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE)
• End-to-end QoS and congestion control
• Hardware-based I/O virtualization
• TCP/UDP/IP stateless off-load
• RoHS-R6 compliant
• Two bracket heights: short and tall
1.1 Supported Network Protocol Standards
1.1.1 10 and 40 Gigabit Ethernet
1, 10 Gigabit Ethernet is an Ethernet network protocol standard for LANs specifying data transfer
rate of 10Gb/s. Mellanox adapters comply with the following IEEE 802.3* standards:
• IEEE Std 802.3-2008 Ethernet
• IEEE Std 802.3ae 10 Gigabit Ethernet
• IEEE Std 802.3ba 40 Gigabit Ethernet
• IEEE Std 802.3ad Link Aggregation and Failover
