7.3. Setup
Avoid glare, reflections and extreme dark-light contrasts to protect your
eyes.
The monitor can be placed in var-
ious positions to achieve the best
viewing angle:
•
tilt by -5° up to 20°
•
swivel by 30° to the left and
right respectively
•
lower and raise by a maximum
of 110 mm.
The monitor should never be
placed close to windows, because
this is where the workspace is illu-
minated the brightest by daylight.
This brightness makes it more dif-
ficult for the eyes to adjust to the
darker screen.
Always position the monitor with
the line of sight parallel to the win-
dow front.
The parallel line of sight must also be maintained with regards to artificial lighting
equipment. In other words, the same criteria and reasoning apply when the work-
space is illuminated with artificial light.
If it is not possible to position the monitor as described, the following measures
may be helpful:
•
swivel, lower or tilt the monitor
•
slats or vertical net curtains on the windows
•
partition walls or changes to the lighting equipment.
Take regular breaks when working at your monitor, to avoid tension and
fatigue.
Sitting for prolonged periods without changing position can be uncom-
fortable. Correct posture is very important for minimising the risks of
physical injuries or damage.
