DVD mode
Some DVDs and CDs are coded with the encryption signals of the authorisation classes established by the Motion
Picture Association. The eight authorisation classes are:
1 KID SAFE:
Suitable even for small children;
2 G:
For all age groups;
3 PG:
Recommended for children aged 6 or older with parental guidance;
4 PG13:
Recommended for persons aged 12 or over;
5 PGR:
Recommended for persons aged 16 or older with parental guidance;
6 R:
May only be viewed by persons under the age of 16 if they are with a parent or adult guardian;
7 NC17:
Should not be viewed by persons under the age of 18;
8 ADULT:
Adults only.
If a DVD was encoded with the authorisation class 7 (18 or over) or 8 (
ADULT
), for example, and you have set an
authorisation class 1 to 6, a message is displayed and the password must be entered. Parts of a DVD – certain
scenes, for example – may also be encoded with an authorisation class or a range of authorisation classes.
