BASIC DRIVING
Advanced Driving – Executing an end-of-row turn
SMOOTH TRAVEL
The lever controls of the Zero Turn are
responsive!
The
BEST
method of handling the ground
speed control levers is in three steps
–
as
shown in
Fig. M1
.
FIRST place your hands onto the levers as
shown.
SECOND, to go forward gradually push the
levers forward with your palms.
THIRD, to speed up move the levers farther
forward. To slow down smoothly, slowly
move the levers toward neutral.
Executing an end-of row zero turn
The Zero Turn mower’s unique ability to turn in place allows you to turn around at the end of a cutting row
rather than having to stop and Y-turn before starting a new row.
To execute a left end-of row zero turn:
A. Slow down at the end of the row.
B. Move the RIGHT handle bar lever forward slightly while moving the LEFT handle bar lever back to
center then slightly back from center.
C. Begin mowing forward again.
Forward travel
Left turn: right lever
ahead from left lever
Straight forward
travel: push
levers evenly
Reverse travel
Forward travel practice
To drive straight forward, gradually move both
drive control bars evenly FORWARD from
neutral.
Fig. M2
Reverse Travel Practice
To drive straight reverse, LOOK DOWN AND
BEHIND, then gradually pull both drive control
bars evenly BACK from neutral.

THIS TECHNIQUE UTNRS THE RIDER LEFT AND SLIGHTLY OVERLAPS THE ROW
JUST CUT – ELIMINATING THE NEED TO BACK UP AND RE-CUT MISSED GRASS.
Remember: The more you practice, the better is your control of the zero-
turn mower!
