Creating the Save To Disk Partition (or File)
Note:
Do not install or
remove the memory
module when the
system is in the
Save To Disk
suspend mode.
Restart the note-
book and power
down before
attempting to
change the memory
configuration.
Warning:
Running the
HDPREPEZ.EXE
program in “save to
partition mode” will
corrupt the data in
the HDD. Therefore,
reinstalling the
software will be
necessary.
The hard drive has a default Save To Disk partition. For example,
the maximum system memory allowed is 160 MB; 16 MB is
reserved for contents of the video chip and other micro-control-
lers. Therefore, in order to use this suspend feature under maxi-
mum system memory, you would need to increase the Save To
Disk partition to 166MB.
To resize or create the Save To Disk partition, do the
following:
1. Boot up your notebook to DOS.
2. In the Factory CD-ROM (or diskette) locate a utility
program called HDPREPEZ.EXE.
3. Copy all files from this directory to your harddisc.
4. Start HDPREPEZ/C and choose options (“Save to disc”
or “Save to partition” mode. Save this configuration file
5. Type HDPREPEZ at the DOS prompt and press Enter.
When using the “Save to partition” mode, you will need to refor-
mat the hard drive (the DOS partition) and re-install O/S and
application programs.
You may create Save To Disk
file
instead of partition. In this
case, you do not need to reformat the hard disk and re-install O/
S. To create a Save To Disk file, follow the above procedure and
enter HDPREPEZ .
