Repair
If the engine cannot be started, examine each of the following for the cause of
the problem.
1. Check if the tank is full of fuel.
2. Check that the battery is properly charged.
3. Check that the circuit breaker (on the right stalk) is not activated.
4. Check that the starter motor operates when you operate the handlebar
starter button.
5. If so, go to the next step to check the ignition system.
Warning
Never let the fuel run out. Collect it in a container. Move it away from the hot
engine and the exhaust pipe. During operation, keep away from any flame or heat
source.
Smoking is strictly prohibited when checking the fuel system. Carry out the
operation in a place large enough to be comfortable
1. Remove the spark plug and connect it to its high voltage cable
2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position, the engine circuit breaker to the
«
»position. Place the spark plug near the engine, and start it. If the ignition
device is functioning properly, blue sparks will fly between the electrodes of the spark
plug; otherwise, call your dealer for repair.
Warning
Do not carry out the above operation by fixing the spark plug near the tank or
any inflammable source, otherwise a fire will be caused by the combustion of the
fuel vaporized in the cylinder.
To avoid electric shock, it is recommended that the metallic part of the spark
plug be contacted with the metallic part of the motorcycle engine. People with
heart disease are prohibited from performing this operation.
Engine shutdown
1. Check the fuel level in the tank.
2. Check the condition of the spark plug.
3. Check the operation of the motor with no load.
Note : It is advisable to consult your dealer beforehand before any repair
operation. If the warranty has not yet expired, contact your dealer immediately
before carrying out any repairs yourself. Any unauthorized manipulation during
the warranty period will invalidate the services provided by the latter. (Refer to
the warranty booklet provided by the authorized MASH dealer.)

Normal ignition in the
high voltage cable, no
ignition in the spark plug
• Oil fouling of the spark plug
• Breakage of the magnetic
core of the spark plug or of an
electrode (s)
• Presence of carbonaceous
deposits on the spark plug
electrodes
• Incorrect spacing of the spark
plug electrodes
• Extract, clean and dry the candle
• Replace the spark plug
• Eliminate carbonaceous
deposits
• Adjust the spacing
Normal ignition in the
spark plug, insufficient
cylinder compression
• Leaking cylinder head gasket
• Ignition plug tightening fault
• Excessive wear of the piston or
breakage of one or more piston
rings
• Leakage from the intake duct
• Tighten the screw or replace the
gasket
• Tighten the spark plug
• Replace the piston or some of
its segments
• Tighten or replace the rubber
part
Engine malfunction
Abnormal engine noise
• Premature ignition
• Excessive accumulation of
carbonaceous deposits in the
combustion chamber
• Overheating of the spark plug
• Replace bearings and auxiliary
parts
• Adjust the ignition time
• Eliminate carbonaceous
deposits
• Replace the spark plug
Engine running
instability
• Fouling of the fuel intake circuit
• Leak at the crankcase
• Clean or replace the fuel inlet
pipe
• Replace the gasket
Engine overheating
• Prolonged driving at low revs
• Driving (prolonged or not)
overloaded
• Use of non-recommended
engine oil or insufficient oil level
• Clutch slippage
• Excessive chain tension
• Brake release fault
• Change gear and control the
duration
• Check the load and stop from
time to time to let the engine cool
down
• Replace the fluid with the
recommended engine oil, filling
up to the mark • Adjust the stroke
or replace the clutch, friction
linings and spring
• Adjust the tension
• Adjust the brake lever play
