5.3 Compressor overheating protection
This protection safeguards the compressor from overheating.
5.4 Automatic control of heat exchanger freezing
When the air is very humid and cold, ice may form on the evaporator. In this case,
the thin layer of ice will grow as long as the heat pump is running. When the control
system diagnostics evaluates that the evaporator temperature is too low, the flow
direction of the heat transfer fluid is briefly reversed so that hot gas flows through
the evaporator in a short time to defrost it.
5.5 Time delay
The device is equipped with a switching time delay element with a set delay time to
protect the control elements in the circuit and eliminate repeated restarts and con-
tactor oscillations. This time delay will automatically restart the device after each
interruption of the heat pump operation. Even with a short power failure, a time
delay will be activated to prevent the unit from starting before the pressures inside
the heat pump are equalized. This can result in the response to a user’s change in
pump settings having a delay of several minutes (not immediately).
If a fault occurs in any of these systems (system fault, disconnection or abnor-
mal value is measured), an error message will appear on the display, see chap-
ter 8.2 “Error massages”.
Warning: Removal or disabling of any of the control or safety systems will void
the warranty.
6. OPERATION
6.1 IMPORTANT OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• If the heat pump is needed to heat the pool, the filtration pump must run
and the water must flow through the heat exchanger.
• Do not switch on the heat pump when it is waterless.
• Never cover the heat pump during operation; ambient air must flow through it.
• Ensure that the control panel as well as the circuit breaker are easily ac-
cessible.
• Protect the heat pump from freezing. Before the onset of frost, drain the
water from the filtration and the heat pump and winterize according to the
instructions.
• At low ambient temperatures and high relative humidity, the evaporator
may freeze. Under such conditions, it is not economical to use a heat pump.
6.2 Bypass valve connection
If the filter circuit includes a bypass (not included in the heat pump package), it can
be used to set the optimal operation of the heat pump after commissioning.
Use of bypass system
The bypass consists of three taps connected as shown below. To the right is the
