cleaning
and maintenance
This appliance should be cleaned and descaled regularly, as
this will prolong its service life.
cleaning
Before cleaning, ensure that the appliance has been discon-
−
nected from the power source and that it is cold.
Do not use any abrasive substances or caustic liquids to
−
clean the kettle
The inside of the kettle can be cleaned using hot water and
−
mild detergents. Do not use coarse cloth when cleaning.
Do not immerse the appliance or the base in the water or
−
in any other liquid. You can use wet, smooth cloth to clean
the external parts of the kettle.
It is recommended to remove calcium deposits regularly.
−
Do not operate the appliance if it has not dried out com-
−
pletely (this applies especially to the base and the bottom
part of the kettle).
The filter should be cleaned regularly:
– when it is wet: rinse out with water
– when it is dry: clean carefully using a brush or immerse the
filter in water mixed with vinegar or citric acid
Cleaning and descaling operations should be carried out only
in accordance with these recommendations.
If the kettle turns off before the water is boiled, it probably
needs descaling.
Descaling
Descaling intervals depend on water hardness and usage
frequency.
Calcium deposits should be removed by boiling water mixed
with vinegar, citric acid or commercially available descaling
agents (EXCLUDING CHEMICAL ONES) 2 or 3 times.
Fill the kettle with water mixed with vinegar (proportions: 1:2),
turn on the appliance and wait for the mixture to boil.
Keep the mixture in the kettle for the next 24 hours, then
discard the mixture, fill the kettle with fresh water to the same
level and boil.
Discard the liquid and clean the inside of the kettle with fresh
water.
Repeat this procedure if necessary.
Lemon juice can also be used for descaling.
Fill the kettle halfway with tap water and add lemon juice
−
(squeezed from 1 lemon).
Boil and wait 15 minutes. Boil again and wait another 15
−
minutes. Boil for the third time, discard the mixture and
rinse the kettle out well.
The kettle shall be rinsed out with fresh water and wiped
−
dry with cloth.
