8.3 Replacing the filter elements
WARNING!
Filter elements can contain substances that are hazardous to health!
– Use an FFP2 mask, disposable gloves and protective goggles when replacing
the filter elements!
Note
Under normal conditions of use, such as in offices, medical practices, schools and
environments with regular room cleaning, it is recommended to replace both the
prefilter and the HEPA filter at least every two years (if the filter replacement is not
already indicated in the LED display beforehand). An earlier end of service life (due to
improper use and increased contamination, for example) may be manifested by a
louder operating noise or unusual odor development, among other things. In these
cases, the prefilter must be replaced before the recommended service life has been
reached. Operating the UV-C lamps* longer than the recommended 30 minutes per
day can shorten the service life of the HEPA filter.
Proceed as follows to replace the filter elements:
1. Use the LED display to switch the fan and the
UV-C lamps* off.
2. Pull on the plug to remove the power cord from
power
outlet.
3. Open the door on the front of the device by
releasing the two locks
WARNING OF HAND INJURY!
Wedge the door open, e.g. by arresting it with an
object—this avoids injury if the door should
accidentally slam shut.
* Applies to models with integrated UV lamps
4. Undo the four star-grip screws on the two
retaining
plates.
5. Slide the lower retaining plate downwards.
6. Hold the filter element and slide the upper
retaining plate upwards.
7. Fix it by pushing it backwards into the “L cutout”.
8. Remove the HEPA filter element.
9. Then remove the pre-filter element.
For filter disposal, please observe the special
safety instructions on page 28.
10. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to thoroughly clean the
inside of the housing (also see section 10.2 on
page
34).
11. Then you first insert the pre-filter element and
then the HEPA filter element.
12. After inserting the HEPA filter element, slide the
upper retaining plate downwards again and
tighten the star-grip screws.
NOTE
When installing the pre-filter and HEPA filter
elements, make sure that the two elements match
up to form an airtight seal.
13. Slide the lower retaining plate over the element
frame and tighten the star grip screws.
14. Close the door on the front of the appliance and
lock
it.
15. Reset the filter-change indicator in the LED
display (see section 7.9.2 on page 26).
