OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Charging, installing or removing battery cartridge (Fig. 1)
Charge the battery cartridge with the Makita charger before use. To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it from the
tool while sliding the button on the cartridge.
To insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip it into
place. Always insert it all the way until it locks in place with a little click. If you can see the red part on the upper side of
the button, it is not locked completely. Insert it fully until the red part cannot be seen. If not, it may accidentally fall out
of the tool, causing injury to you or someone around you. Do not use force when inserting the battery cartridge. If the
cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being inserted correctly.
Storing battery cartridge
Always charge the Nickel Metal Hydride battery cartridge before storing it when you do not use it for more than six
months.
Head angle (Fig. 2)
The head angle can be adjusted in four stages. Adjust as desired.
Replacing bulb (Fig. 3 & 4)
CAUTION:
• The bulb is very hot immediately after operation. Wait until the bulb cools off before attempting to replace it.
• Be sure to use Makita type bulb of Model BML240 to replace the bulb.
• Always be sure that the battery cartridge is removed before replacing the bulb or maintenance.
Turn the ring counterclockwise and remove the reflector. Then rotate the hollow part of the brim to the position of the
fixed terminal. Remove the bulb and replace it.
