Connect the smart tester
Turn the ignition ON
Initialise the diagnostic tool
Record the DTC and clear
Turn ignition OFF
Turn ignition ON
Verify if B1053 is present?

Is B1053 present?

Intermittent problem exists
Refer the intermittent problem
inspection procedure

STEP 2

Ignition OFF
Battery negative
DISCONNECTED
Wait for one minute
Passenger Pretensioner
wiring harness connector
DISCONNECTED

Connect the Dummy resistor to
Passenger Pretensioner wiring
harness connector

Battery negative CONNECTED
Ignition ON
Ignition OFF
Ignition ON

Using diagnostic tool , verify if
B1053 is still present?

Is B1053 present?

Suspect Passenger
Pretensioner

Ignition OFF
Battery negative
DISCONNECTED
Wait for one minute

Replace Passenger Pretensioner
with a new one.
Clear the DTC and verify

STEP 3

Ignition OFF
Battery negative
DISCONNECTED
Wait for one minute
SRS ECU wiring harness
connector/s DISCONNECTED
Passenger Pretensioner wiring
harness connector
DISCONNECTED

Connect the Dummy resistor to
Passenger Pretensioner wiring
harness connector
Check the resistance between
pin B21 and B22 of the SRS
ECU wiring harness connector

Is the value=2±

0.3

Ω

?

Replace the wiring harness
Clear the DTC and verify

Suspect SRS ECU
Replace SRS ECU with a new
one.
Check and verify for any new
DTC’s
