Manifold & Cylinder Head

Cylinder Head

Removal

Remove the Manifolds, Rocker Arm Shaft Assembly as detailed earlier.

Remove Push rods and identify them so they can be installed in their original positions.

Remove thermostat housing by pass hose.

Remove three bolts then remove the thermostat housing.

Remove fuel injector pipes. It is not advisable to disconnect them at the injector only. They may
become distorted.

Remove 13 nos Cylinder head bolts progressively in the reverse order to the tightening sequence

Remove Cylinder head and gasket.

Note

Clean the Engine externally. Mark dismantled parts such as valves, Valve stem guides and
springs and place them on a table in removal order to facilitate reassembly.

Always cap all exposed openings of injector pump, injector pipes, fuel lines and nozzle holders
to prevent entry of dirt into the fuel system.

To avoid warpage do not remove cylinder head bolts unless the engine has cooled down.

Dismantling

Use special tool to press valve spring. Remove Collect and slowly release spring

Remove cup retainer, washer, spring & washer.
