SHARPENING CURVED

(OR MULCHING) BLADES

Always keep the blade in constant level contact with the work table when

grinding.  Use the 1/2” wide grinding wheel with the 1/2” arbor spacer.

DO NOT BE INJURED BY THE BLADE

MAKE SURE YOU WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES & GLOVES

1.  Remove the clamp-able work table and expose the narrow rounded

work table.

2.  Switch to “ON”

3.  Adjust the grinding wheel to almost come in contact with the work

table.  The edge angle will be 30º.

4.  Place the blade on the work table in such a manner that you will

grind the new edge from the inside of the blade to the tip.  NOTE: The

force needed to push the blade into the grinding wheel should be

VERY light (a light touch), allow the blade to smoothly follow its

curves against the rounded work table.  You will need to compensate

for the varying curves by allowing the blade to slightly come away

from the grinding wheel and then back to it.  A lighter force with

a little practice will produce an unparalleled, professional, and uniform

appearance along the blade edge.

BLADE SERVICING HINTS

The serviced blade must be:

1.  Clean (use the MAG-12000 Blade Cleaner)

2.  In balance (use the MAG-1000 Blade Balancer)

3.  Have sharp cutting edges with correct tip geometry. (use either the

MAG-8000 or MAG-9000 Blade Sharpeners)

To service a lawn mower blade in the least amount of time:

1.  Prepare the blade to be sharpened as outlined on page 3.

2.  Determine the balance of the blade.

3.  Remember the heavy end.

4.  Sharpen the light end first.

5.  Sharpen the heavy end.

With enough experience you will be able to approximate closely how

much more re-sharpening is needed on the heavy end to bring it into

balance.
