NANOCOLOR
®
TIC-Ex V 1.0 / 05.15
4. Handling of the device
The handling of the NANOCOLOR
®
TIC-Ex is easy and intuitive. Turn on the device with the
switch at the back of the instrument (chapter 3.4
8
). Assemble the needed amount of pipette
tips (part of TOC tube tests) on the purging unit of the device (chapter 3.4
5
). Place the pre-
pared TOC sample tubes in the cuvette holder and insert the holder into the indentations of
the NANOCOLOR
®
TIC-Ex housing. Insert the pipette tips into the samples by pushing down
the purging unit (chapter 3.4
5
) with both hands until it is locked. The green LED (chap-
ter 3.4
3
) indicates that the device is ready for use. To start the purging process, press the
start button (chapter 3.4
1
). The device starts pumping air through the samples for five
minutes. The time is counted internally. The blinking orange LED (chapter 3.4
3
) indicates
that the device is working. After five minutes an acoustic signal indicates the completed
process; the air flow is stopped automatically. Lift up the purging unit by shortly pressing
downwards. Remove the cuvette holder and proceed with the samples as described in the
manual of the TOC tube test. The pipette tips can be removed by simultaniously pressing
down the black handles on top (chapter 3.4
4
).
Pressing the stop button (chapter 3.4
2
) will abort the process at any time. The device
will directly stop the air flow and reset the timer. The red LED (chapter 3.4
3
) indicates that
the process was aborted by the user. Pressing the stop button a second time, restores the
initial status. The green LED (chapter 3.4
3
) indicates that the device is ready for use again.
5. Cleaning of the device
The instrument housing may be wiped with a wet cloth. Splashes and spillings of liquid need
to be removed from the instrument immediately. The pipette tips are consumables and must
be equipped freshly for each process (part of TOC tube tests).
