End-of-Season Servicing
WARNING
To avoid injury or death from unexpected start-up of machine, always stop the engine and remove the key from the
ignition before leaving the operator
’
s seat for any reason.
CAUTION
Never use gasoline, naphtha, or any volatile material for cleaning purposes. These materials may be toxic and/or
flammable.
CAUTION
Cover cutterbar to prevent injury from accidental contact.
Perform the following procedures at the end of each operating season:
1.
Raise the header and engage lift cylinder safety props.
2.
Clean the header thoroughly.
3.
Check for worn components and repair as necessary.
4.
Check for broken components and order replacements from your Dealer. Immediate repair of these items will save
time and effort at beginning of next season.
5.
Replace or tighten any missing or loose hardware. For instructions, refer to
7.1 Torque Specifications, page 187
6.
Lubricate the header thoroughly leaving excess grease on fittings to keep moisture out of bearings.
7.
Apply grease to exposed threads, cylinder rods, and sliding surfaces of components.
8.
Oil cutterbar components to prevent rust.
9.
Loosen drive belt.
10. Remove divider rods (if equipped) to reduce space required for inside storage.
11. Repaint all worn or chipped painted surfaces to prevent rust.
12. Store in a dry, protected place if possible. If stored outside, always cover header with a waterproof canvas or other
protective material.
