The kettle should be cleaned and descaled regularly. This will prolong
the life of the kettle.
Always unplug the kettle and let it cool down before cleaning.
Never immerse the kettle and mains lead into any liquid.
The outside of the kettle and the base can be cleaned by simply
wiping with a cloth moistened with soapy water. Do not use abrasive
cleaning agents, scourers, metal utensils, etc.
To prevent damage to the appliance, do not use alkaline cleaning
agents.
Cleaning the filter
The filter prevents particles from being poured into your drink. As
the filter catches the particles it needs a casual cleaning to maintain
easy pouring of the kettle.
Clean the filter by taking it out of the spout and brushing it with a
soft nylon brush under running water.
Descaling
Scale consists of calcium carbonate (CaCO
3
). Depending on the amount
of calcium carbonate in your water, scale may build up in the kettle.
The amount of scale depends on the hardness of the water in your
area and the frequency with which you use your kettle. In order
to keep the kettle in good condition, it is recommended to descale
it regularly. If the hardness of your water is very high, meaning it
contains a high amount of calcium carbonate, you will need to descale
more frequently. If your water hardness is soft, meaning less calcium
carbonate, descaling will not be necessary as frequently. The water
hardness is measured in dH (degrees hardness). The following table
shows the guidelines:
water hardness
0-4 dH
very soft
4- dH
soft
-12 dH
medium hard
12-1 dH
fairly hard
1-30 dH
