Troubleshooting
Symptom
Probable Cause
Comments
No analog output even if the
display shows a temperature
above lower range limit
Reversed leads to ISR 320
The ISR 320 is diode
protected if power leads
are reversed.
See section 3.1
Reversed leads to other instruments in the
current loop
Open circuit in lines connecting all instruments
in current loop
Total burden higher than 500 Ohms
Insufficient supply voltage (See wiring
diagram)
Temperature readings are too
low
Target size too small
Target is not at correct focus distance
See section 3.3 and 5
With small target/close
focus models, aiming may
require X-Y positioning
table for fine adjustment
during aiming.
Incorrect alignment of the pyrometer to the
object
Realign pyrometer in
1-channel mode (mono)
to achieve the maximum
temperature signal.
Dirty window or lens
See sections 4.7 and 6.1
Target temperature too low
Target emissivity much lower than expected
Even 2-Color instruments
depend on actual target
emissivity to supply
sufficient energy to the
sensor.
See sections 4.1, 4.2, 4.3,
4.7, 6.1
Incorrect slope adjustments
See sections 4.2, 5
Faulty ISR 320
Contact LumaSense. See
section 1.5
Temperature readings are too
high
Targets hotter than expected. (This often
happens with first time infrared Pyrometer
users)
Verify target temperature
with contact type
method.
(Thermocouples may not
accurately determine
surface temperature due
to “heat sink” effect).
