Access via Remote Telnet Connection
4
To allow remote access to the WaveLAN/EC-S device using Telnet,
you will need to ensure that your installation meets the following
requirements:
1.
Each WaveLAN/EC-S device has a unique IP Address
assigned.
If this is not yet the case, typically when you wish to configure
WaveLAN/EC-S devices “out-of-the-box” use either:
■
The WaveMANAGER/EC program (see “Assign TCP/IP
Parameters” on page 3-18).
■
A direct connection as described on page 4-4.
2.
The network architecture allows you to access the device via a
WavePOINT-II access point:
■
Your computer is a wireless computer connected to the
same access point as the targeted device.
■
Your computer is a (wired) terminal that is connected to the
WavePOINT-II via the Ethernet backbone.
■
The WavePOINT-II access point has not been configured
for “Closed System” mode, which would deny access to
device using the WaveLAN Network Name “ANY”.
1
If all these requirements have been satisfied, proceed with the
steps as described in “Open the Telnet Session” on page 4-6.
1
WaveLAN/EC-S devices are programmed to use “ANY” as their default
WaveLAN Network Name. For information about “Closed Systems”,
please consult the WaveMANAGER IEEE User’s Guide.
