PortMaster Office Router Hardware Installation Guide

External Modems 

Most external modems operate with the PortMaster Office Router.

Modem Tips

Lucent recommends any reputable vendor of V.32bis or V.34 modems. For best results, 
configure the modem to do the following:

•

Lock the data terminal equipment (DTE) rate at 115.2Kbps or as high as the 
modem can operate reliably

•

Raise DCD when a call comes in

•

Reset itself when DTR is dropped

•

Use hardware flow control (RTS/CTS)

•

Answer the telephone on the first ring for dial-in use
