If flashing whilst driving, a misfire
has been detected which is likely to
cause overheat damage to the catalytic
converter. Slow down immediately and
be prepared to stop.
-
If the lamp then stops flashing and is lit
continuously, proceed with caution and
seek dealer advice.
-
If the lamp continues to flash, stop the
vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so and
switch off the engine. Seek Lotus dealer
advice.
WARNING
Continuing to drive the car with a flash
-
ing MIL may cause an engine bay fire.
NOTICE:
Continuing to drive the car with
a flashing MIL may cause overheating
damage to the catalytic converters and
surrounding bodywork.

Normal running temperatures
The initial tell tale illumination colour
is blue until the engine coolant reaches
normal operating temperature at which
time the tell tale will extinguish.
All new lamps highlighted, remaining lamps are carry over from MY08 although some
positions may have changed.

Excessive running temperatures
The tell tale will then illuminate red in
colour if coolant temperatures exceeds
235°F in order to prompt closer monitoring
of high temperatures.
A warning message in
the right hand display
screen will also be
displayed accompanied
by a 1 second audible
chime.
Reduce vehicle speed and adopt a
moderate driving style until these
warnings clear indicating that the engine
coolant has returned back to normal
running temperature. If these warnings
fail to clear then stop the engine when it
is safe to do so and do not restart until the
cause has been investigated and rectified.
These warnings CANNOT be manually
cleared using the information display
button.
INSTRUMENTS, SWITCHES & TELL TALE LAMPS
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Also referred to as TPMS and will indicate
if any tires are insufficiently inflated (see
page 42).
The TPMS incorporates self-malfunction
recognition and if a fault is detected the
tell tale will flash for approximately one
minute and then remain constantly lit, this
sequence being repeated for subsequent
ignition cycles; the system may not be able
to detect or indicate low tire pressures.
See your dealer without delay.
Airbag
The tell tale will illuminate for
approximately 6 seconds following ignition
switch on. If the lamp remains illuminated,
or comes on at any other time, a fault in the
airbag or pre-tensioned seat belt system
is indicated, which should be rectified
without delay by your Lotus dealer.
WARNING
If the airbag tell tale is lit, the airbags
may not inflate correctly in a crash, or
may inflate without warning; or the pre-
tensioning seat belts may not perform
correctly. To reduce potential injury to
driver and passenger, the airbag system
should be repaired as soon as possible.
