SIGNALS FROM THE LATHE TO THE BARFEED SYSTEM
Always refer to the electrical diagrams shipped with the bar feed system and placed in the electrical cabinet. Although an
example of an interface diagram is provided, the diagram for the interface corresponding to your device, essential when making
the electrical connection, is located inside the electrical cabinet.
a)
24 V dc power supply
Corresponds to the +24 V of the bar feed system. This power shall be used to connect the signals from the lathe to the PLC.
•
All signals from the lathe to the PLC shall be powered by the +24 V dc of the bar feed system.
•
All signals from the bar feed system to the lathe shall be powered by the +24 V dc of the lathe.
For the other types of connections, please contact LNS S.A. or their local representative.
b)
"EMERGENCY STOP" signal of lathe XT8-XT9
This signal is part of a safety link (Emergency Stop circuit) of the bar feed system. XT8-XT9 corresponds to the Emergency
Stop signal of the lathe. If the circuit is open, the bar feed system will go into an Emergency Stop mode.
When the lathe is in an Emergency Stop mode, or if the safety line of the bar feed system is interrupted, an alarm will go off
and the R1 relay of the bar feed system will be triggered (see description of the R1 relay, below).
c)
Lathe collet signal (PLC input X11), terminal A1
Collet signal is for confirming the status of lathe collet (chuck, clamping device). This signal initiates feeding and bar change
process of bar feeder by itself as well as combination with other signals.
The signal logic could be inverted by MODE 2 setup.
d) Lathe alarm (PLC input X12), terminal A2
This signal indicates that a lathe alarm is arising.
The signal logic could be inverted by MODE 3 setup.
e) Start loading (PLC input X13), terminal A3
This signal is used for lathe to decide the timing of pusher to return for changing a new bar stock after the End of Bar signal
is sent from the bar feeder.
The signal logic could be inverted by MODE 4 setup.
f) Push signal (PLC input X14), terminal A4
Push signal is used for lathe to control pushing forward actions during machining. Pushing forward actions includes “feeding
when lathe chuck is open” and “lathe chuck is close in machining”.
6.2.3. Signals from the bar feeder to the lathe
When a specific bar feeder signal is activated, the corresponding relay energizes therefore send signal to the lathe. The bar
feeder interface offers wires of both NO and NC contacts. The user should connect the interface wires according to lathe
signal logic.
a) 24V DC power supply
All the signals from the bar feeder were powered by the 24V DC from the lathe. When the corresponding relay energized at
the bar feeder, the 24V DC travels through corresponding contact at bar feeder relay and return to lathe PLC. The lathe PLC
hence receives bar feeder signals.
b) R1 alarm relay
When an alarm is activated in the bar feeder, the R1 relay is energized. The corresponding contact will be ON and signal will
be sent / removed to the lathe according to the wiring logic.
For safety reason, this signal should stop spindle movement.
