4.1
BIOS
BIOS stands for Basic Input and Output System. The BIOS is the first program to run when you turn
on your computer.
For detailed BIOS information, ask for the “BIOS-GUIDE”.
The Hurricane-PM is delivered with a standard PC BIOS. By default, all setup settings are done to
have a “ready to run” system, even without a BIOS setup backup battery. The BIOS is located in a
Flash PROM and can be easily updated on-board.
Setup
Pressing the
<F2>
key or
<DEL>
key at power-up time starts the setup utility.
Initialize BIOS at first startup
It is important to initialize the BIOS setting at first startup of the board.
Start setup by pressing
<F2>
key or
<DEL>
key at power-up time and choose
Load Optimized
Defaults
.
In the next step use
Save & Exit Setup
to save and activate the new setup.
Optimized Defaults
is the preferred BIOS setup for the board.
Booting from alternative device
Pressing the
<ESC>
key at power-up starts the Boot Menu. Choose one of the listed bootable devices
for booting.
Reload default BIOS values
The default values of the BIOS can be automatically reloaded at boot time. To do this, the key
<0 / INSERT>
on the NUM pad is pressed before the system power is turned on. While pressing this
key and turning the system on, the default values will be loaded. After this, the new values must be
confirmed by pressing
F1
; the BIOS responds to that with lighting the Num-Lock LED at the
keyboard.
