NOTE:
For best lapping results, lightly tap the valve
seat while rotating the valve back and forth
between your hand.
z
Apply a fine lapping compound to the valve
face and repeat the above steps.
NOTE:
Make sure to clean off all compound from the
valve face and valve seat after every lapping
operation.
z Apply Mechanic’s blueing dye (Dykem) ○

to
the valve face.
z Install the valve into the cylinder head.
z Press the valve through the valve guide and
onto the valve seat to make a clear pattern.
z Measure the valve seat with

again.
VALVES AND VALVE SPRINGS
INSTALLATION
1. Deburr:
z Valve stem end
Use an oilstone to smooth the stem end.
2. Apply:
z Molybdenum disulfide oil
(onto the valve stem e and oil seal d )
Molybdenum disulfide oil
3. Install:
z Valve spring seat c
z Valve stem seal d NEW
z Valve e
(into the cylinder head)
z Valve spring (under) f
z Valve spring (outer) g
z Spring retainer h
NOTE:
Install the valve spring with the larger pitch

facing upwards.
