Rail cleaning
The F27 function is used to start the LGB-optimized setting for the driving and clea-
ning speed. The function only works in forward travel and generally provides the best
cleaning result.
• Do not use to clean the nickel plated LGB rails.
• The cleaning motor operates only when the 21672 is moving forward. This makes it
easy to clean dead-end sections, like sidings.
• The 21672 will not clean wet or oily rails.
• For the operation of the rail cleaning locomotive, no
additional
wheel link extensi-
ons (e.g., E356201) may be mounted on switches.
• Replace the cleaning wheels before the gray cleaning rings are worn to the level
of the outer wheel disks (see Replacing the cleaning wheels). If the rings are worn
to the level of the outer wheel disks, the disks can damage the track.
• Track Cleaning Wheels (67267) are available from authorized LGB retailers. The pa-
ckage includes cleaning rings, inner wheel flanges and outer wheel discs. Always
replace the flanges and disks together with the cleaning rings.
• When cleaning the tracks, carbon dust and other debris accumulates around the
track. This dust and debris can stain carpet and other materials.
• When the 21672 is operated for the first time or with new cleaning rings, it may not
run smoothly.
• The cleaning motor is equipped with a thermal overload switch. If the motor is
overloaded, the switch will turn off the cleaning motor. The switch will automati-
cally reset after a few minutes. To avoid overloading, operate the loco at a higher
speed.
• Do not run the 21672 unattended. If it derails, the cleaning wheels may continue to
rotate and damage the track.
