STEP 3: ORGANIZE PARTS AND COMPONENTS
Each frame will be identified with a removable label.
• The top will be identified on the label as ‘Top Frame’.
• The bottom will be identified on the label as ‘Bottom Sill’ or ‘Bottom’.
• The left and right frames will be labeled accordingly.
• Do not remove product labels until product is installed.
• Match the line number of the frame to the line number of the panel.
• Lay out frame sides, panels and other components to prepare Shutters for assembly.
STEP 4: ASSEMBLE YOUR FRAME
Review information recorded from packing slip (Step 1) to use correct directions per
your frame style, mount type and T-Posts (if applicable, see the T-Post
(Step A and B) instructions on Page 10).
Insert Corner Keys
– (All Frame Styles, except Outside Mount L Frame applications only)
• Insert the corner keys into both top and bottom frames, and align the frames
for insertion.
• Slide the corner key that is in the top and bottom frames into the end of each
side frame.
• Tap with a rubber mallet until an audible “pop” is caused, indicating the frames
have been successfully secured.
Glue Corner Keys
– (Outside Mount L Frame applications only)
• Apply Loctite (or Contact Cement) to inside surface of the corner key
cavity of both frame corners to be assembled (Not supplied)
• Insert the corner key, making sure that an audible “pop” has occurred,
indicating the frames have been successfully secured. Hold firmly
until set (10 to 20 seconds).
• Repeat for remaining corners.
Important:
It will be impossible to detach the corners after the adhesive
has set.
Metal L-Brackets
– (Applicable to Trim Frame, Bullnose Frame, Decor Trim)
• With the frame face down, set a metal L-Bracket on the back of the frame
in each corner with the mounting holes bevel side up.
• Using the two holes closest to the inside corner of the bracket, offset one
of the supplied screws (#6 x 5/8”) away from the corner to tighten up the
frame. In a corresponding manner, offset one of the supplied screws in the
hole opposite the first screw.
• Fill the remaining open holes with the two remaining screws. If minor gaps
appear, caulk or sealant can be used to seal the corners once the shutter
is completely installed.
