9.2 Compressor operations
9.2.1 Pressure regulation knob
This controls the air outlet pressure Turn clockwise to increase the pressure. Turn anticlockwise
to reduce the pressure. Higher pressures will support heavier patients. When the mattress has
reached the desire pressure level, the normal pressure LED lights up.
NOTE: It is possible to check whether the pressure is suited to the patient by running your
hand underneath the air cells at the level of the patient’s buttocks. The air cells will alternatively
inflate and deflate. You should feel a slight contact with the buttocks when the cells underneath
the buttocks deflate.
NOTE: Each time the mattress is inflated, it is recommended to set the pressure knob
to “Max” to speed up inflation. The air mattress can be inflated to the desired degree of firmness
to ensure the level of comfort of the mattress.
9.2.2 Normal pressure indicator
When the green LED lights up, the pressure inside the air mattress has reached the desired
pressure setting (pre-set on the pressure regulation knob).
9.2.3 Low pressure indicator
When the mattress is in the start-up phase, the low pressure LED remains lit until the appropriate
pressure is reached (as a function of the pressure selected on the knob). In any other case, the
low pressure LED is a warning, indicating that the pressure in the mattress is unusually low.
In this case, check that all the connections are correctly installed, according to the installation
instructions.
NOTE: if the pressure level is always low, check for possible leaks (components or air tubes).
If necessary, replace any damaged tubes or contact a local retailer qualified to carry out repairs.
9.2.4 Alternate/static switch
The control for the alternate/static function allows you to choose between the alternating
pressure and the static pressure mode. With the alternating pressure mode, the air cells that
alternate are partially deflated and inflated, avoiding prolonged pressure on every single point
underneath the patient and thus preventing bedsores. With the static pressure mode, all the air
cells are equally inflated. Mode used for treating the patient and for positioning or repositioning
on the bed.
9.2.5 Alarm deactivation
When low pressure occurs, the LED lights up and the alarm buzzer sounds. Press the button
to deactivate the acoustic alarm and check for any air leaks.
NOTE: Press the
“button” again to reactivate the acoustic alarm.
