Applications

5.1

Access guarding

Safety relays are used together with single- or multiple light beam safety devices, e.g. as access guarding 

for danger zones. Because protective sensors only detect persons upon entry into the danger zone, and 

not whether a person is present in the danger zone, the safety relay only triggers the switch command 

upon entry of a person into a danger zone. Access guarding may therefore only be operated with activated 

start/restart interlock or additional safety measures must be taken.
