LEUSCH valves are designed in accordance with applicable
standards in compliance with technical regulations (e.g. AD-
2000 regulations) and the European Directive for Pressure
Equipment 2014/68/EU.
For intended usage it should be ensured that the valves are
only used where the operating pressure and temperatures do
not exceed the design criteria specified for the order. The
manufacturer is not responsible for damages arising from
external forces or other external influences! Risks which arise
from the process medium, operating pressure and tempera-
tures, as well as from the signal pressure or from moving
parts of the valve, should be prevented by suitable measures.
The following must be ensured for the intended usage of the
devices:
Implementation and operation of the valves in
pipelines within predefined (materialdependent)
pressure and temperature limits (see informations
for PS and TS on the name-plate) for
control
and
shutting-off of the fluid by means of manual gear-
box or by means of a actuator (pneumatic,
electric or hydraulic).
When Valve is to be used as End-Valve, the oper-
ating and ambient conditions must first be clarified
with the manufacturer.
Valves with wafer body are designed only for
installation between two mating flanges and there-
fore not suitable for use as End-Valve.
Installation and operation of the valves with re-
spect to no additional adverse effects such as
pipeline forces, wind loads, vibrations (also earth-
quakes), corrosion, fire or decomposition of unsta-
ble fluids.
The plant designer/operator is responsible for taking
relevant measures to prevent additional loads and
influences and therefore possible risks to the valves
and the environment, as appropriate. Such
measures could be, for example:
Construction of load restraints and vibration
dampers
Measures for safe drainage or redirection of
dangerous mediums (from external leaks)
Measures for process safety when auxiliary
energies fail (e.g. consideration of fail-safe posi-
tions)
Correct storage and transport of the valves (e.g.
dry storage, use of suitable sling materials etc.)
Use of the valves with fluids that the select-
ed materials are sufficiently resistant to.
The fluid compatibility of the valves (in regard
to the materials used including the sealing
materials) is to be checked by the plant de-
signer /operator for all operating conditions.
Temperature change as well as applicable
use of future detergent must also be taken
into consideration.
Measures to ensure the fluid compatibility
by the plant designer /operator could be, for
example:
• Specification of suitable materials
• Specification of protective coatings
• Creation of (special) specifications
Specification of the flow velocity depending on
medium as well as the use of the valves, so
that no damage can occur to the valve and the
pipeline.
CE
For valves with CE labelling (CE name-plate)
the conformity in accordance with European
Directive for Pressure Equipment 2014/68/EU
will be declared. The conformity declaration
gives information about the conformity assess-
In addition, the same safety regulations apply for
valves as for the pipeline system in which they
are installed.
The safety regulations of the attached control
system for the actuator including accessories
are also to be observed, as well as the instruc-
tions and regulations of the individual manufac-
turer.
Further safety instructions that are to be fol-
lowed for the installation, operation and mainte-
nance of the valves are described in the follow-
ing chapters.
NACE
In relation to the use or the application of mate-
rials in accordance with NACE MR0175 /
ISO15156 as well as NACE MR0103 (Materials
in environments containing H2S), the designa-
tion of the standard itself in the material or test
certificates does not yet certify suitability for the
use of the valve. This is additionally dependent
on operating and environmental parameters,
which are usually only provided by the plant
designer. Therefore, the suitability of such a
valve is always to be checked by the plant de-
signer/operator.
SIL
The suitability for the use of valves in (SIL)
protective circuits must be documented in spe-
cial agreements. The requirements that are to
be followed are described in standards (e.g.
VD12180, EN 61508) and in the applicable
Samson group handbook (functional safety for
EN 61511control valves, rotary plug valves, ball
valves and butterfly valves; WA 236.
Oxygen service
During ordering of spare-part kits for valves
that are used for oxygen service, it is neces-
sary to specify explicit “OXYGENE-SERVICE”.
