9. When the installation process finishes, the server will restart automatically. Change your password when
prompted before you log on to the server for the first time.
Note:
The password should have at least eight characters in length and be a combination of upper
case letters, lower case letters, and numbers.

To install a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system or a Microsoft Windows MultiPoint Server
2011 operating system, do the following:

• Ensure that you have prepared all the required items before installing an operating system. See “Before
installing an operating system” on page 1.
• Follow the instructions on the screen in addition to the instructions in this topic.
1. Insert the operating system installation disc into the optical drive that you have set as the first startup
device. Then, start the server from the optical drive.
2. Press any key on the keyboard as soon as the message “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD” is
displayed. Then, the Windows setup initialization begins.
3. When the Install Windows window is displayed, configure the following options and then click
Next

4. You might need to select the operation system edition that you have purchased and then click
Next
