CAUTION:
Hazardous moving fan blades nearby.

To install a system fan, complete the following steps:

Figure 29. System fan installation

Step 1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new system fan to any unpainted surface on

the outside of the server. Then, take the new system fan out of the package and place it on a static-
protective surface.

Step 2. Align the two holes in the system fan with the two pins on the chassis.

Step 3. Press the system fan down until it is seated correctly in the slot. Ensure that the fan connector is

installed correctly to the connector on the system board.

After installing the system fan, complete the following steps:

1. Replace the top cover.

2. Install the ThinkSystem VX7Y13 Series back in the rack.

3. Verify that the system fan is replaced successfully:

• The error LED for the replaced system fan is off.

• The amber warning LED on node front panel is off.

• No error is shown in the Lenovo XClarity Controller Web interface.

• No error is shown in the Lenovo XClarity Administrator Web console.

• No error is shown in the Lenovo XClarity Integrator console.
