10 Troubleshooting
SYMPTOM
SOLUTION
No display on RCI, but system appears to work
There may have been a power outage & the RCI
might not have been restored. Turn off for 30
seconds and reboot.
Architectural controls work but DMX console
does not control lights
Check that the DMX indicator light is lit, if not
then make sure your console is plugged in and
transmitting DMX
One dimmer does not work
Check that the LED indicator on the dimmer is lit.
If so, swap dimmers with an identical unit to see if
the problem tracks with the module or the circuit.
Check that lights are not burned out.
Dimmer appears to work but there is no control of
load
Apply a small incandescent test load to the load
terminals and check for dimming and/or load
voltage. If the dimmer does not output voltage,
try a swap.
Architectural controls work but do not control any
lights
The Dimmer Control Card may need to be re-
initialized. Try a system reboot.
One phase of dimmers do not work
Check that main power is applied, that one of the
fuses on the backplane control card is not blown,
and that the indicators on the Dimmer Control
Card are all lit solid.
All dimmer circuits are full and cannot be dimmed Check that the Panic bypass switch on the
backplane is in the “normal” position. Check that
the system is not in the “Fire Alarm” panic mode.
Check that a Backup Cue is not active.
Fan does not come on
If dimmers do come on but not the fan, check for
obstructions & that the blades freely spin. If
voltage is present at the fan but still does not turn,
replace fan.
Fan runs all the time
Fan will run whenever there is a DMX link and/or
if there is an architectural signal going to at least
one of the dimmers in the rack.
Dimmers overheat and shut down
If red OT light on the individual dimmer comes
on, the thermostat senses too high a temp. Check
for obstructed air movement or overloaded
dimmer.
All control power is out
Check for AC power, or that the phase 'A' fuse is
not blown (F1 or F2)
