Network Switch Configuration
Copying Settings to another Network Switch
3.
Leave the TFTP server tool running and select
Administration
->
Download/Backup Configuration
on the
CISCO switch GUI. Then adjust the following settings:
·
Transfer Method
= via TFTP
·
Save Action
= Backup
·
TFTP Server Destination
= By IP address (Version 4)
·
TFTP Server IP Address/Name
= enter the IP address of your TFTP server (this is the IP address of the
Server interface selected in step 2 - in our example
192.168.1.101
).
·
Source File Type
= Running configuration
·
Destination File Name
= enter a suitable file name - in our example,
test
.
4.
Click on
Apply
- the current Running configuration is saved to the TFTP file. The file will be named
test
and
is located in the directory selected on the TFTP server (during step 2).
5.
Now connect your computer to the destination switch and repeat a similar procedure, but this time select
Download
as the
Save Action
(during step 3). The TFTP file will be downloaded from your computer to the
switch. The switch must then be rebooted.
Note that the switch should be disconnected from the rest of the network as the file will reset its IP address. (If
both the source and destination switches are connected to the network, then you will have an IP conflict.)
6.
Reset the IP address of the destination switch, using the
Administration
->
Management Interface
->
IPv4 Interface page
.
7.
Repeat steps 5 & 6 for the other switches in the RAVENNA network.
