Hydraulic Systems Care
WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Hydraulic fluid under high pressure will penetrate the skin
or eyes causing a serious injury. Wear protective gloves and
safety glasses or goggles when working with hydraulic
systems. Use a piece of cardboard or wood rather than
hands when searching for leaks. If an accident occurs, seek
immediate emergency medical care or gangrene may result.
•
Interventions with the hydraulic system must be carried out
with all hydraulic pressure to auxiliary hydraulic lines
relieved. A pressurized hydraulic system can trigger sudden
machine movements and can cause serious personal
injuries or damage to the machine.
•
Do not perform any welding work near hydraulic hoses. The
hydraulic oil can easily catch fire.
One of the most important things you can do to prevent
hydraulic system problems is to ensure your tractor's
hydraulic reservoir remains free of dirt and other
contaminants.
Use a clean cloth to wipe hose ends clean before
attaching them to your tractor. Replace tractor hydraulic
filter element at the prescribed intervals. These simple
maintenances will go a long way to prevent occurrence of
control valve and hydraulic cylinder problems.
Read Warning Alert bullet above beginning with
“Hydraulic fluid under high pressure ...”
Check hydraulic connections for leaks using a piece of
cardboard or wood rather than the hands. Tighten
connections if necessary, Do not over tighten the
connections as that can damage the connection.
Check for signs of damaged or worn hydraulic hoses,
fittings and cylinders before each use of the flail mower.
Replace damaged components as needed. Order only
genuine Land Pride parts from your local Land Pride
dealer.
