Pulley Arrangement Based on Power Take-off rpm
Figure 3-5
Pulley Configuration
Refer to Figure 3-5:
WARNING
!
To prevent serious injury or death:
The pulleys must be configured in the correct position for the
power take-off speed. Improper configuration will operate the
knives too fast or too slow. Too slow will result in a poor
quality of cut and too fast can cause damage to the unit and
thrown objects.
1. Check that the pulleys are configured in the correct
positions for the power take-off speed used.
2. If not, have the pulleys configured correctly by an
authorized service center.
Lateral Adjustment
WARNING
!
To prevent serious injury or death:
Never adjust the lateral position of the flail mower with the
mower on the ground. Doing so subjects the flail mower to
excessive strain and potential damage.
To adjust the lateral position of the mower correctly:
1. First, come to a complete stop and then raise the flail
mower above ground.
2. Operate the hydraulic control lever to adjust the
lateral position of flail mower as needed.
3. Lower the flail mower to the ground and continue
mowing while traveling forward only.

IMPORTANT:
Adjusting the lateral position of the flail
mower with it on the ground may overload and
potentially damage the bearings of the roller.
Driveline Contact
Figure 3-6
Avoid Driveline Contact With Mower
Refer to Figure 3-6:
WARNING
!
To prevent serious injury or death:
Work with caution to avoid contact with the driveline at the
adjustment limits of the flail mower.
When the flail mower is used in combination with certain
tractors and in extreme conditions, driveline (
A
) may
come into contact with the top of lateral joint (
B
).
This may occur in the following conditions while the flail
mower is at maximum lateral adjustment:
•
when flail mower is inclined
•
when the tractor lift is used
In these conditions, take particular care to prevent the
movements of the driveline from causing the shaft itself to
come into contact with the structure as the flail mower
approaches its maximum permitted travel.
Contact may cause severe damage to the driveline and
the flail mower and is dangerous.
