The disk drives contained in your LairdShareHD are delicate electronic instruments and are susceptible to
damage due to excessive physical shock. Place the unit in a vented area away from moisture or liquids. Please
handle the unit with care. Do not open the case. Doing so will void the warranty. If the product is returned with
damage caused by improper handling, the warranty will be void and liability will rest with the user.
DO NOT MOVE THE LAIRDSHARE HD WHEN IT IS OPERATING!
Drive failures are likely to occur if the LairdShare is moved while it is running.
Power
The LairdShareHD can be operated on standard AC power, and will switch to most international standards au-
tomatically. The LairdShareHD should be protected by surge suppression and battery backup system. Two bat-
tery backup systems may be used, one on each power supply, to increase protection. If the LairdShareHD
suffers a power outage, data written to it within the last minute or so may be lost.
Temperature
The optimal operating range for the LairdShareHD is between sixty-five and seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit.
More importantly, whatever temperature it runs at must remain reasonably stable. Large temperature swings of
+/- 10 degrees or more on a regular basis will reduce the life expectancy of the disk system. A small confined
space like a closet is therefore a bad choice for running the LairdShareHD.
1. To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this equipment to the environment of Humidity and/or dust.
Do not use this equipment in an unprotected outdoor installation or any area classified as a wet area.
2. Always keep the product on a stable and secure base or enclosure. Do not drop the product or subject it to
sudden heavy impact.
3. Provide adequate ventilation so that thermal characteristics do not cause an increase in product tempera-
ture to resulting in overheating.
4. Do not clean the unit by using electrically conductive or corrosive chemicals. Always be certain to unplug
the unit from AC wall power before any major cleaning. Use a damp cloth only for cleaning.
5. Do not subject the product to electrical mains power over voltage: The product must be used at the rated
supply voltages indicated on the product rear panel only.
6. Do not plug the product into an overloaded electrical outlet. This may result in fire or electrical shock.
7. Object Ingress and Liquid Entry: Never insert or push sharp metal objects into the product or use such devices
for an attempt at opening or servicing the product. Servicing should be referred to a trained and qualified tech-
nician only. Do not allow liquid of any type to enter the unit. Do not allow the unit to be submersed in water as
this may cause a shock hazard.
