Notes:
In a circuit where a Hot water cylinder is used it is recommended, depending on domestic requirements
that an indirect cylinder with a capacity of 135-180 litres be used with 1” flow and return pipes not
exceeding 7.8m each in length. Both the cylinder and the pipework should be well lagged to minimise heat
loss.
In examples 1 and 2 an alternative plumbing arrangement would be to run the mains supply to an open cold
water tank in the attic and vent the cylinder to the cold water tank. An expansion vessel would not need to
be fitted to the mains supply when this plumbing arrangement is used.
