3.3
Storage capacity / Container sizes
The maximum storage capacity of a collection system is given by the collection volume.
The collection volume must be at least 10% of the total storage volume or at least the volume
of the largest container stored above the collection system (applies in Germany).
The appropriate national regulations must be observed.
Note!
In water protection areas or because of official directives greater collection volumes may be
stipulated (up to 100% of the storage volume).
3.4
Loading
Loading the collection system should only be carried out with suitable equipment, e.g. drum
clamps, suitable fork-lift truck attachments, etc. Only small containers, drums, CTCs, etc., that
comply with the regulations for the transport of hazardous substances should be stored.
3.5
Stacking
The containers should be stacked on /arranged in the collection system in such a way that
there is no risk that they fall from or out of the collection system.
For stackable collection systems the stacking heights according to the relevant national
regulations must be observed. Extra devices such as drum racks, etc., must be firmly attached
to the collection system.
The total load given for the collection system must not be exceeded.
3.6
Leaks
The collection system should only be filled with containers to the extent that it is still possible
to recognize leaks at any time, i.e. it must always be possible to see the trough base at one
point.
