UNIX Printing Through TCP/IP 5-19
UNIX Printing Through TCP/IP
Configuring the IP Address on the NC-2 Print Server
Regardless of the printing mode selected, the NC-2 Print Server must be
given IP address and routing parameters. You can configure the IP address
for the NC-2 Print Server in one of the following ways:
•
Use NC-2 Network Management Utility for Windows.
•
Use Apple Administration Program for Macintosh.
•
Use the Internet Boot Protocol (BOOTP).
•
Use reverse ARP (rarp) capability (Ethernet II frame type only).
•
Use arp and ping capability.
Depending on the topology, you need to provide the MAC address of the
NC-2 Print Server.
The MAC address is the 12-character code that is printed on the configura-
tion status report each time the printer is turned on.
You can use the BOOTP, rarp, or ping procedures only when the print server
is in its factory default state (when no IP information has been entered.)
After the print server has an IP address, you must use the Network Manage-
ment Utility, or the Apple Administration Program (for Macintosh) to
change an IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.
