Router detection and Link Blink function (
ETH Link
)
The activated
ETH Link
function can be used to test whether an active hub,
switch or router is connected or patched to the RJ45 test cable. To check this,
plug the yellow RJ45 cable into a data port.
If the port is not patched, the green
Data
LED lights up darkly, if the port is
patched or if the terminal device is active at the remote end of the line, it lights
up brightly and a link signal tone sounds.
With the most common hubs, switches or routers, the
Link
LED now lights
up, allowing the assignment to the data socket to which the KE890/KE895
is connected to be made visually. In order to distinguish this port flashing
from the flashing interval of the ethernet traffic of other ports, KE890/KE895
activates the
Link
LED in a slow cycle. Using this practical function, the port
connected to the data socket can be visually identified on the terminal device.
By briefly pressing the
ETH Link
function key, the link flashing pulse can be
switched between 100 ns (lit LED) and 150 ns (flashing LED). The pulse is
transmitted every four seconds.
