Toner mode (
SOLID
and
ALT
)
In Toner mode, the KE890/895 sends signals to a line that can be detected by
the KE420 xDSL Probe. This makes it possible to trace individual lines even
under plaster. The two sound modes
SOLID
and
ALT
are available. Both are
activated by briefly pressing the respective function key and indicated by their
respective LEDs.
Each of the two modes has three different search signal tones, which can
be selected via the
Frequency
key and switched through one after the other.
Both start with the first frequency:
Mode
Frequency 1
Frequency 2
Frequency 3
SOLID (constant tones)
1 kHz
1,9 kHz
577 Hz
ALT (alternating tones)
880 Hz / 1 kHz
1,9 kHz / 2,6 kHz
577 Hz pulsed
The currently active search tone is indicated by the color of the function LED
Frequency
: red (F1), green (F2) and yellow (F3)
The search tones are output by the KE890/KE895 as square wave voltage
with ~12 V
SS
on the open, unloaded line. With low impedance loads, the out-
put voltage drops accordingly:
Base wave 1 kHz:
~ +12 dBm on high-impedance line
~ +5 dBm on 600 Ω
~ +4 dBm on 300 Ω
~ 0 dBm on 100 Ω
~ -5 dBm on 50 Ω
