Before you mount the rear wheel, clean and grease the bearing face of the bushing
[5]
and
the shaft seal ring
[6]
. Clean the dolly at the brake caliper support and swing arm
[A]
.
Assemble in the reverse order. Position the rear wheel in the swing arm and mount the brake
caliper on the brake disk. Allow the brake caliper support and swing arm
[A]
dollies to engage,
place the chain on the gear wheel and mount the wheel spindle. Make sure the chain ten-
sioners
[2]
are mounted in the same way on the left and right. The marks on the chain ten-
sioners must be in the same position on the left and right in relation to the reference marks
[B]
. Before you tighten the collar nut to 90 Nm, press the rear wheel towards the front to
allow the chain tensioner to rest against the clamping screws.
– If you don’t happen to have a torque wrench at hand, make sure you have the tighten-
ing torque corrected by a KTM dealer as soon as possible. A loose wheel spindle can
cause the motorcycle's handling performance to become instable and cause it to crash.
– After mounting the rear wheel, keep operating the footbrake until the pressure point returns.
– It is very important to keep the brake disk free from oil and grease, otherwise the brak-
ing effect would be strongly reduced.
