SMX Conveyor
The secondary mixing on the SC Applicator is achieved using a KSi Static Mixing Conveyor (SMX
Conveyor). With this SMX Conveyor, there are points that should be monitored to ensure gentle seed
handling, and belt life. Within the SMX conveyor are mixing baffles that extend down into the flow of seed to
create turbulence / mixing of the seed.
Conveyor Belt Adjustment
Belt tension and tracking will need periodic adjustment. A new
conveyor, or a conveyor that has sat idle for an extended period of
time, will need to be monitored more regularly, until the belt has
fully stretched and formed.
If the belt is not tracking in the center of the roller, loosen the nut
on the tensioning bolt and extend the bolt on the side of the
conveyor to tighten the belt on the side of the belt that is close the
edge of the conveyor. Once the belt is tracking in the center of the roller, re-tighten the nut on the tensioning
bolts.
SMX Mixing Baffles
The mixing baffles can be accessed by removing the 4 pins from
each cover on top of the conveyor. This will expose a door with a
couple of mixing baffles on each door. To achieve the best mixing,
the bottom of each mixing baffle, should be just slightly above the
chevron cleat on the conveyor belt. The mixing baffle can be
adjusted by loosening the two bolts that hold the mixing baffle to
the bracket.
Each door is marked with a number that correlates to its location
on the conveyor. When putting the doors back on the conveyor,
ensure that each door matches the number that is on the
conveyor.
