2.16.5  Installing the Hot tap device 

•  

Determine the correct location for the installation of the device, as described in the previous 

sections
Demount the support flange from the unit.

•

 Weld the support flange onto the pipeline (make sure that the bolts are already in place for 

step

 Install the valve onto the support flange (open the valve)

•  

Tighten (with a torque wrench) the M16 bolts uniformly and in diagonally opposite sequence at 

a torque value of 14 Nm.

INFORMATION!

The installation of the OPTISONIC 1400 Hot tap in pipelines under pressure and/or 
depressurised, can only be performed and validated by trained personal. The device is intended 
to be welded on metal pipe lines only.

Tapping / drilling should only be done by a specialised company.

INFORMATION!

Before starting the drilling, determine the location of the holes in the pipe section exactly. Follow 
the instructions described in the previous sections, in order to obtain the most accurate possible 
measurement system.
Note that all the following illustrations, show installation from the top view on a horizontal pipe 
line
