TROUBLESHOOTING
1. Burning material
a. Check sharpness of the blade. Replace if necessary.
b. Check the blade for pitch build-up. Clean with commercially
available blade cleaner.
c. Check Toe in. (See Toe in adjustment.)
2. Splintering on the off-cut
a. Verify the splinter guard contacts the workpiece.
b. Verify there is not a gap between the inside edge of the
splinter guard and the blade teeth. If the splinter guard was
not tightened before use or loosened during use, it may have
been damaged. Replace the splinter guard.
3. Splintering on the workpiece (material under the track)
a. Verify the front edge of the blade is flush with the anti-chip
strip. If there is a gap between the blade and the anti-chip
strip, replace and trim the strip. (See Trim the anti-chip strip.)
4. Poor dust collection
a. Empty the dust bag after every second or third cut.
b. Occasionally blow out the dust bag fabric with compressed air.
Accumulated fine dust can clog the dust bag fabric pores.
c. Verify dust is not clogging the blade housing or dust port. Blow
out the housing and port with compressed air.
d. When making many cuts in one work session, connect the
saw to a shop vacuum.
5. Cuts slightly off 90°
a. Verify the bevel overrides are not engaged.
b. Check the bevel calibration. (See Calibrate the bevel scale.)
6. Motor boggs down
a. Verify the speed-control dial is set to maximum speed
(setting 6).
b. Check the sharpness of blade. Replace if necessary.
c. Check the blade for pitch build-up. Clean with commercially
available blade cleaner.
d. Reduce feed rate (movement of saw along the track). Wet or
hard woods require a slower feed rate.
e. Blade kerf in the workpiece may be closing and pinching the
blade. Stop cutting, remove the saw from the workpiece, and
start the cut over to widen the saw kerf. If pinching persists,
discard workpiece.
7. Motor stops working after extended use
a. Inspect power cord for damage.
b. Switch damaged or worn. Call Kreg Customer Service for
repair.
c. Motor brushes worn. Call Kreg Customer Service for repair.
8. Wavy cut
a. Verify the tracking controllers are properly adjusted. They
should be tight enough to eliminate play between the saw and
guide track without hindering movement of the saw along the
track.
b. Inspect the tracking controllers for damage. Call Kreg
Customer Service for repair.
c. Clean the anti-slip strips with a damp cloth and remove dust
from the workpiece. If the guide track slips sideways on a slick
workpiece surface, secure the track to the workpiece with
optional track clamps, available from Kreg.
9. Saw will not plunge to desired depth
a. Check if mode is set to blade change mode
b. Make sure splinter guard has been properly trimmed
c. Make sure the chip strip on the guide track has been properly
trimmed
10. Saw does not sit flat on the track
a. Check if mode is set to blade change mode
b. Clean track of any debris
c. Loosen the snuggers and re-adjust
11. Saw does not glide down the track
a. Loosen the snuggers and re-adjust
b. Clean track of any debris
c. Replace glide strips if necessary
12. Saw blade removal
a. Blade bolt is reverse threaded, turn clockwise to loosen and
remove
13. Saw catches at beginning of cut
a. Check that the saw snuggers are on the track
b. Loosen snuggers and re-adjust
