12. Restore the generator set to service.
12.1 Replenish the coolant. See the generator set
specification sheet for radiator cooling capacities.
See the generator set operation manual for the
coolant fill procedure.
12.2 Check that the generator set is OFF.
12.3 Reconnect the generator set engine starting
battery, negative (--) lead last.
12.4 Reconnect power to the battery charger, if
equipped.
12.5 Test run the generator for a few minutes to check
for leaks. Shut off the generator set and allow it to
cool. Check the coolant level to ensure that all air
is purged from the system. Add coolant as
necessary to fill the system.
Note: Engine damage.
Failure to bleed the air
from the cooling system may cause
overheating and subsequent damage to
the engine.
Note: Block Heater Damage.
The block heater
will fail if the energized heater element is
not immersed in coolant. Fill the cooling
system before turning on the block heater.
Run the engine until it is warm, and refill
the radiator to purge the air from the
system before energizing the block heater.
12.6 Reconnect power to the block heater, if equipped.
