6. Secure the Whirlpool to the Stud Framing
CAUTION: Risk of product and property damage.
Do not nail or drill through the whirlpool
flange, as this may crack the flange and cause leaks.
IMPORTANT! Risk of product damage.
To avoid rust marks on your product, ensure the roofing nails or
non-tapered flathead screws are galvanized or plated. If using galvanized or plated non-tapered flathead
screws,
do not overtighten the screws.
Excessive tightening can damage the whirlpool flange. Consult
local building codes to determine if the screws or nails must be galvanized or plated.
NOTE:
This whirlpool is designed for installation into regularly spaced framing. If there is a gap between
the edge of the whirlpool and the stud, then shim the stud in order to bring the stud to within 1/8
″
(3
mm) of the whirlpool.
Secure the whirlpool using roofing nails (galvanized or plated) or non-tapered flathead screws
(galvanized or plate) over the top of the whirlpool flange. This will pin the flange to the studs.
