Remove Reduction Assembly (If So
Equipped)

2:1 Reduction Assembly

1. Remove any drive coupling and the key from the

reduction assembly output shaft. Clean the shaft
and keyway of any burrs/damage.

2. Remove the mounting bolts securing the

reduction system housing onto the crankcase.
Place a flat pan or towel under the housing to
catch any remaining oil. See Figures
9-53 and 9-54.

2. Remove the four hex. flange shoulder screws

securing the stator to the crankcase. Remove the
stator and pull the wires through the opening in
the casting. See Figure 9-52
